New Connections Portal launched as part of commitment to reform connections process for customers

Our new Connections Portal has launched enabling customers to apply for connections digitally for the first time.

The new portal will make managing applications much easier and smoother for customers who’ll be able to track, and monitor their projects in one place, as well as interact with contract managers via the portal, giving greater transparency to the whole process.

This is just one part of our ongoing work to transform the connections process and speed up connections to the transmission grid.

How to access the Connections Portal

The Connections Portal can be accessed here where customers can log in or register for an account if not yet set up.

Watch our Connections Portal webinar here to see an overview of the tool and hear some of the frequently asked questions.

Visit our connections webpage for user videos, guides and further information in our key documents section.

How we’re reforming the connections process

The Connections Portal is part of our wider aim to improve the connections process.

In February, we announced reforms of how applications to connect into the transmission grid will be managed with our five-point plan, which will speed up the current connections queue.

To kick-off this plan, from 1 March we implemented a new two-step process for applications in England and Wales. This will reduce uncertainty for developers in the longer term as we apply our new modelling and storage assumptions. In Scotland, these changes will be applied without the need to implement a new two-step process.

Two-Step Offer Webinar

On 30 March we’re hosting a webinar to provide an update on the two-step offer process and Transmission Reinforcement Works review. Register for this webinar here.

TEC amnesty

We’re also giving companies the opportunity to leave the connections queue if their project is no longer needed at minimal or no cost, or to reduce their TEC. This is open until 30 April 2023. Read more about the TEC amnesty here.

Longer-term reforms

We’re also looking at how we can improve the whole process and make it fit for the future. Read more about our Connections Reform work here.

Give us your feedback

Following the launch of the new portal, we’re hosting webinars to gain feedback on user’s experiences which will help further improve the tool.

Keep an eye on our Connections Portal webpage for how to sign-up!
