The role of the Stakeholder Group
We established the ESO RIIO-2 Stakeholder Group to make sure that stakeholders and consumers have a formal voice as we developed our business plan for the next RIIO regulatory price control period. The Group scrutinised our approach and conclusions, making sure our plan reflected our stakeholders’ priorities, as well as driving value for consumers.
The Group was independently-chaired with its members drawn from a cross-section of customers, service providers and public interest groups. It included representatives from larger and smaller generators, network companies, energy suppliers and consumer bodies.
Separately, Ofgem created the RIIO-2 Challenge Group to consider the affordability and sustainability of our plans.
Scrutiny and assessment of our plan
The Group scrutinised our business plan and looked at how we have engaged with stakeholders and incorporated their feedback. It also considered the roles and activities we proposed to deliver as well as the costs and benefits of these.
The Group acted in an advisory capacity and was not a decision-making body. They will submit a report to Ofgem outlining the parts of the plan they agree with and any areas of concern which we will publish on this page 23 December 2019.
The report will also assess the scope and quality of our stakeholder engagement. It will act as a reference point for Ofgem for any areas of our business plan that might require further scrutiny.
