Demand Flexibility Service consultation

Have your say on the next version of our ground-breaking Demand Flexibility Service (DFS) ahead of its return this coming winter.

Have your say on the next version of our ground-breaking Demand Flexibility Service (DFS) ahead of its return this coming winter before 5pm, 17 July.

All the fantastic engagement and feedback we've received so far has helped shaped our proposals and we’d now like your views on the final terms of this years’ service.

Please share your thoughts as early as possible using the proforma on our webpage and before the consultation closes at 5pm, 17 July.

The consultation covers the terms and conditions of the revised service, building on last year’s success, in accordance with the requirements of EBR Article 18.

DFS was developed and tested last year to allow us to access additional flexibility when national demand is at its highest – during peak winter days – not currently accessible in real time.

The innovative service allowed consumers, as well as some industrial and commercial users (through suppliers/aggregators), to be incentivised for voluntarily flexing the time when they use their electricity.

It was tested as part of a range of tools designed to help manage the electricity system during winter and helped drive the growth in using flexibility within the industry, which will be a key part of the mix into the future.

We’ve explored how we could evolve the DFS for this coming season and are proposing several developments to the 22/23 service.

Thanks to everyone who has helped shape our plans so far - we really appreciate all the engagement and support. If you'd like to discuss anything about these, please reach out to your account manager or [email protected] to arrange a call.
