How we generated electricity in March
In March, wind was our largest source of generation for the second consecutive month, providing 32.9% of our electricity.
Just over half (51%) of electricity came from zero-carbon sources, peaking at 84% on 23 March at 11am.
High usage of renewables enabled the carbon intensity of electricity generation to continue to fall as we move towards the summer months, averaging at 127gCO2/kWh.
24TWh ran through the network in March, which is enough electricity to boil 4840 billion kettles. Demand for electricity peaked on 11 March at 6pm.
