Phase 2 Auction Trial

The auction trial is an innovation project which is procuring Low Frequency Static (LFS) and Dynamic Low High (DLH) frequency products through the EPEX SPOT Auction Platform on a weekly basis. 

 

 

 

Latest News

01/04/21- As promised in ESO Response Letter to the Auction Trial Evaluation Report, we have published the supporting document to explain the Merit Order Constraints in the HELENA algorithm. The document can be found here.

19/03/21- To increase the market transparency, we have now published the Unit ID Mapping Table, please find it here.

13/11/20- EPEX have now created a dedicated phone number for support with the Auction which will go live from 16th November 2020, the number is 0033 17037 8892. Please use this number if you require urgent support.

27/10/20-Due to higher prices in FFR TR130, we have not fulfilled our requirement for November delivery and will be moving the outstanding requirement closer to real-time, which is the Phase 2 weekly Auction DLH. This decision is in line with our ambition to move procurement closer to real-time.

18/9/20 - As promised in the Response and Reserve Roadmap issued in December 2019, we would share with you our initial findings and learnings about the Auction Trial project in a project evaluation report. The evaluation report (produced by ESP Consulting) and the ESO response letter are now available. We have now recorded a video to talk you through these two reports. Please tell us your feedback by completing this short 1-minute survey.

Overview Technical Requirements How to participate Assessment Process Getting Paid Market Information

The auction trial products below are procured to maintain system frequency closer to 50Hz.

Product Descriptions

LFS (Low Frequency Static) - This is a static service that is triggered at 49.6Hz. Minimum requirement is 1MW and must be able to deliver full output in 1 second. For full requirements please refer to the testing guidance specifications listed on the Technical Requirements tab.

DLH (Dynamic Low High) - This is a dynamic service that delivers equal volumes of Primary, Secondary and High frequency response. For full requirements please refer to the testing guidance specifications listed on the Technical Requirements tab.
