Welcome to the BETA version of our new interactive map of Great Britain's electricity transmission system. The map is illustrative and highlights an identified need to transmit volumes of energy from point A to point B and does not represent specific cable routes.

Now the Pathway to 2030 holistic network design has been published, the next steps involve more detailed network design which will include specific locations and designs for projects. These will be designed and consulted on in future by the organisations appointed to fulfil the needs identified.

This map allows you to navigate through the Electricity Ten Year Statement (ETYS) and the Network Options Assessment (NOA).

The ETYS is the ESO’s view of future transmission requirements and the capability of Great Britain’s National Electricity Transmission System (NETS) over the next 10 years.

The NOA provides recommendations for which reinforcement projects should receive investment.

We have also included the Holistic Network Design’s (HND) offshore network, which is part of our Pathway to 2030 work. You can use the timeline feature on the top right to see how the network could be developed through time up to 2030.

We hope you enjoy this more dynamic and interactive experience - we are still developing these maps, so please let us know if you have any feedback on any of the ETYS or NOA elements.
