The Connections Portal is now live!

The Portal has been designed to transform the Connections Journey and account management for all customers.

The Portal will provide a single point of contact for all ESO connections customers looking to either connect to, or make use of the transmission system. The initial release has digitised the application process and includes the following high-level functionality:

  • Apply for connections and other agreements online.

  • Monitor live applications and track progress.

  • Access to signed contract documents.

  • View of key milestones/milestone management.

  • Communicate directly with your Connections Contract Manager.

Connections Portal launch

The Portal went live on 13 March 2023, and from this date is the new way for all ESO customers to apply for Connections across England, Wales and Scotland.

Registration to the portal is the first step of the digital application journey – it is quick and easily done directly in the Portal by clicking on the button below and selecting ‘Register a new account’.

Each company will need to have a Super User set up and registered, who will then be able to approve registrations for four other Standard Users within their company without the need to wait for approvals from NGESO.

You may find it helpful to refer to the step-by-step guidance for both Standard and Super User registration in the User Guide within the key documents section below.

Platform Development

Stakeholder input and feedback has been key in the shaping of the Connections Portal to date. Since May 2022, we have been engaging with customers and stakeholders through a series of workshops and webinars to deliver the first release.

Going forwards we will be running a series of Focus Groups where all customers will be invited to share their experiences of using the Portal so far. An understanding of what is working well and more importantly, gathering insight into particular pain points in the current Connections process will form a key part of future Portal development. This will look to enhance current functionality and enable further improvements. The Focus Groups will be commencing from 1 May 2023, so please keep an eye out for further communications if you would like to participate.
