Connections Portal

What is the Connections Portal?

As part of our RIIO-2 ambition, the Connections Portal is being designed to transform the Connections Journey and account management for all Customers.

The Portal will provide a single point of contact for all ESO connections customers looking to either connect to, or, make use of the transmission system. The initial release will look at the digitisation of the application process and include the following high-level functionality:

  • Apply for connections and other agreements online

  • Monitor live applications and track progress

  • Access to signed contract documents

  • View of key milestones / milestone management

  • Communicate directly with your connections contract manager

Please keep checking back to this page as we will be adding relevant communications and material over the coming months ahead of go-live.

Connections Portal – Updated Release

We have recently shared some changes to our plans for the launch of the Connections Portal.  Our revised approach will be to deliver the Portal release in two stages to ensure we have a product that is both fit for purpose and meets the expectations of connections customers. It will also allow for a more co-ordinated release with other new and existing ESO platforms.

  • The first stage (Phase 1a) will begin on 27th January 2023, and will involve a sample group of ‘Early Adopter’ customers, who will be able to access the Portal to apply for Connections.
  • The second stage (Phase 1b) will begin on 13th March 2023, whereby all ESO customers will have access to the Portal to be able to apply for Connections.

Below is a link to the slides presented at the recent Customer Seminar, which provide further detail around the release stages:

Connections Portal registration

We continue to encourage customers to submit Portal Registrations for both Super Users and Standard Users*, and this can be undertaken directly in the Portal by following the below link:

Connections Portal

Once your Super User has been set up and registered, they will be able to approve registrations for four other Standard Users within your company without the need to wait for approvals from NGESO.

*Please note that without a Super User set up for your company, Standard Users will not be able register on the Portal.

Please take a look at our Key Documents on this page for details about how registration works and other useful materials such as how to approve a Standard User as a Super User.

Stakeholder Engagement

A number of stakeholder workshops have previously taken place to help shape the Connections Portal to deliver the Minimum Viable Product (MVP).

Following the release of Phases 1a and 1b of the Portal, we will be running a further series of webinars and workshops from 1 May 2023, where we will invite all customers to share their experiences of using the Portal so far, and provide the opportunity to participate in the further development of the Portal.

There will be further communication on the above over the coming weeks and months.
