Codes and Our Role as National Grid Code Administrator
Electricity codes form the framework and rules for operating the British electricity transmission network. Each of the codes focuses on a different area of the industry. Find out more about the codes below.
We are Code Administrator for the Connection and Use of System Code (CUSC), The Grid Code and the System Operator - Transmission Owner Code (STC). We also have a role administering the Security and Quality of Supply Standards (SQSS).
We play an important role in allowing industry parties to propose changes, debate important issues and drive key outcomes in code modification processes. In addition we help protect the interests of small market participants and consumers through the adoption of key code administration principles - Code Administration Code of Practice (CACoP).
