ESO RIIO-2 Stakeholder Group
As we develop our business plan we’re working with our independently chaired Stakeholder Group whose role it is to scrutinise and challenge our proposals.
The role of the Stakeholder Group
We established the ESO RIIO-2 Stakeholder Group to make sure that stakeholders and consumers have a credible voice as we develop our business plan for the next RIIO regulatory price control period. The Group scrutinises our approach and conclusions, making sure our plan reflects our stakeholders’ priorities, as well as driving value for consumers.
The Group is independently-chaired with its members drawn from a cross-section of customers, service providers and public interest groups. It includes representatives from larger and smaller generators, network companies, energy suppliers and consumer bodies.
Separately, Ofgem has created the RIIO-2 Challenge Group to consider the affordability and sustainability of our plans.
Scrutiny and assessment of our plan
The Group scrutinises our business plan and looks at how we have engaged with stakeholders and incorporated their feedback. It also considers the roles and activities we propose to deliver as well as the costs and benefits of these.
The Group acts in an advisory capacity and is not a decision-making body. They will submit a report to Ofgem outlining the parts of the plan they agree with and any areas of concern.
The report will also assess the scope and quality of our stakeholder engagement. It will act as a reference point for Ofgem for any areas of our business plan that might require further scrutiny.
The report will coincide with our final business plan submission in Q4 2019.
